We typically do not replace our exterior wall systems on a facility, and fenestrations are expected to last 30 plus years, but maintenance is needed, and the most common equivalent to “changing the oil and rotating the tire” is “complete removal and replacement of all exterior sealant joints” and sometimes “wet sealing the windows (fenestrations).

As a building envelope (roofing, waterproofing and exterior walls) consultant and designer Rick provides complete building envelope consulting services for private, commercial, industrial, institutional, government and state agencies and organizations
1991-2019 – ADC Engineering Founder/ Vice President and building envelope (roofing, waterproofing and exterior walls) consultant and designer.
1984-1991 – Roofing / Waterproofing consultant with Construction Division, Southern Division, NAVFACENGCOM, for all new and re-roofing construction projects, supporting Southern Division and all of its field offices. In this position Rick established a roofing program that includes improving / creating specifications and design guidelines, reviewing current A/E and in-house designs for technical acceptance, troubleshooting and inspection of current construction projects, training Southern Division and Department of Defense personnel in roofing technology and the overall improvement of design, construction, and maintenance of roofing systems.
Primary coordinator for all design and construction for roofing work at NWS & POMFLANT Charleston after hurricane Hugo. Was responsible for all specifications and costing for all re-roofing work and NWS following the devastating damage of Hurricane Hugo. Completed investigations, prepared designs, cost estimates and negotiated the repair or re-roof contracts with the contractors.
Mr. Cook has authored numerous papers on building envelope (roofing, waterproofing and exterior walls) systems and wind related damages. He has presented papers at national symposiums, conferences, and colleges including the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Construction Specifications Institute, the Building Envelope Symposium, the Roof Consultants Institute at Factory Mutual, Roof Consultants Institute National Conventions, Miami Dade and the Federal Construction Committee in Washington, DC. Mr. Cook has also presented dozens of papers at local and regional meetings and conferences related to roofing, waterproofing and the building envelope in the construction industry
