Over a five-year period, National Firestopping Solutions conducted facility condition assessments of 462 commercial buildings across 28 states, capturing more than 75,000 detailed observations using advanced digital survey technology. This large, multi-year dataset demonstrates how systematic assessments can effectively identify deficiencies and compliance gaps within rated fire and smoke barrier systems that are often overlooked during routine maintenance activities.
By benchmarking data across hundreds of buildings, organizations can identify consistent patterns and trends, allowing facility leaders to strategically allocate resources and better inform capital improvement budgets. The collection of these data provides a powerful foundation for developing clear, data-driven narratives that help justify and secure funding for firestopping and other life safety improvements.
Finally, this presentation highlights how ongoing data collection and longitudinal analysis support sustained code compliance, reduce organizational risk and liability, and drive measurable improvements in overall facility safety performance. When leveraged effectively, assessment data becomes not only a record of conditions, but a strategic tool for long-term life safety management.
1. Understand how comprehensive facility condition assessments systematically identify physical deficiencies, code non-compliance, and life-safety gaps, enabling organizations to address risks before they result in regulatory violations or safety incidents
2. Demonstrate how benchmarking across hundreds of buildings can highlight trends, prioritize high-risk areas, and optimize maintenance budgets.
3. Utilize data-driven insights to develop clear, compelling narratives that justify funding requests, effectively communicating the operational, regulatory, and life-safety value of investments in firestopping and other critical life-safety improvements.
4. Recognize the value of continuous data collection and performance analysis in sustaining long-term compliance, reducing organizational liability, and driving measurable improvements in overall facility safety and resilience.
